ACADEMIC SCHEDULE :
All Indian and Sri Lankan candidates
will join the academic year starting from June / July and appear for the
examinations in June the following year.
The candidates from Malaysia and Singapore
will join the academic year starting from January every year and write
their examinations in December, in the same year. Other foreign candidates
shall choose either June or January according to their academic years.

I. Eligibility For Admission :
(a)
For candidates who have passed Plus Two or its Equivalent:
For
India:
A pass in Plus Two OR an Examination accepted as equivalent to Plus
Two (like PUC) by the Syndicate subject to such conditions as may
be prescribed therefor, with
aptitude for Bharathanatyam.
For Sri
Lanka
The Sri Lankan candidates should have 5 credit marks at GCE O/L
and 2 credit marks at GCE A/L OR
4 credit marks at GCE O/L and 3 credit marks at GCE A/L examinations.
English language should be one of the subjects in which the candidate
must have passed. They must produce the "Official Statement"
for the above from the Department of Examinations National Evaluation
and Testing Service of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri
Lanka (Ceylon). And also, they should have apptitude for Bharathanatyam.
For Other
Countries:
The candidates from other countries, should produce certificates
of their studies as equivalent to that of Plus Two or A / Level,
issued by the Association
of Indian Universities, New Delhi.

Xth Standard passed candidates should have any one

Lateral Entry :
This
is an opportunity to join the Second year of the 3 year BFA Course, given
to the candidates  with

Concurrent Degree Programme
(From the academic year 2006-2007 onwards) :
I. Eligibility For Admission
: The candidates undergoing Ist year or IInd year or IIIrd
year of the UG Degree programmes OR the candidates
undergoing Ist year or IInd year of the PG Degree
programmes in the Regular / Self Financing Stream / Distance Education
programmes in the affiliated colleges of Bharathidasan
University / University Departments / any other
recognized Universities / Colleges in India, are eligible to join
the Ist year B.F.A. in Bharathanatyam of the Off-campus
Degree programme concurrently.
They will be
exempted from doing Part I - Language and Part II - English in the
Off-campus Degree Programme.
Regarding
Foreign students, for doing B.F.A. concurrently :
The foreign students, if the UG degree they have
joined for regular studies is certified by Association
of Indian Universities, New Delhi, that it is equivalent to the
UG degree of any recognized University / College
in India, are eligible to join B.F.A. in Bharathanatyam of the Off-campus
Degree Programme, concurrently. They will also
be exempted from doing their
Part I - Language and Part II - English.
A candidate can
register for only one concurrent UG Degree programme at a time. |
II.
Duration :
The Course is for a duration
of three academic years. The Contact Classes shall be conducted
either for 10 days or during week-ends covering 80 hours of classes,
per year.
The students who have earned
75% of attendance in the Contact Classes, are eligible to appear
for the examinations. |

VI. Examinations and
Results :
Annual
- The Bharathidasan University will conduct the Examinations.
a. |
There shall be
examinations at the end of each academic year in the month of June
/ July. A candidate who does not pass the examination in any subject(s)
shall be permitted to appear in such failed subject(s) in the supplementary
examinations to be held in December. In the case of foreign students
who belong to the academic year January - December, they may be
permitted to appear in such failed subject(s) in the supplementary
examinations to be held in June/July. Provided that no candidate
shall be permitted to appear for the second year and / or third
year examinations without registering for the first year and / or
second year examinations as the case may be. |
b. |
The results will be published by the Bharathidasan
University and forwarded to the Study Centres in which they took the
examinations, through the office of Kalai Kaviri Off-campus Programme.

VII. Passing Minimum :
In the case of Parts I, II
and III, a candidate shall be declared to have passed in each
Paper or Practical, if he / she secures not less than 40% (10
marks for Internal and 30 marks for External) of the prescribed
maximum marks. He / she shall be declared to have passed the whole
examination if he / she passes in all the Papers and qualified
for the degree.

(c) Special Eligibility Test
:
Any Candidate possessing
any Bachelor's Degree will be admitted to M.F.A., provided the candidate
knows a Full Maargam in Bharathanatiyam and passes the Special Eligibility
Test in Practicals and Theory conducted by the faculty of the Off-campus
Programme.
They will be given specific syllabus
for Theory and Practicals to undergo this test. A fee of Rs. 3,500/-
by Indians, US $ 100/- by the Sri Lankans and US $ 300/- by students
from other countries, should be paid for taking up this Special
Eligiblity Test.
The Candidates from other countries, should produce Equivalence
Certificate for their Degree, from the Association of Indian Universities,

concurrently. Those who do not have
a Diploma in Bharathanatyam according to the specifications of the
University, but have a knowledge of Full Maargam, basic Theory and
Proficiency in Bharathanatyam, if they pass the Special Eligibility
Test in Praciticals and Theory in Bharathanatyam, conducted by the
faculty of the Off- campus Programme, will be eligible to join the
Ist year M.F.A. in Bharathanatyam of the Off- Campus Degree Programme
concurrently.
After getting admitted in the first
year of the Regular PG programme the students shall join the first
year of the M.F.A. Off-campus Degree programme in Bharathanatyam. |

Concurrent Diploma Programme (From the
academic year 2006-2007 onwards) :
Eligibility For
Admission : Candidates are permitted to undergo this Diploma Course
concurrently while doing any UG Degree (either in the first year or second
year or third year of the course) or any PG Degree (either in the first
year or second year of the course). Such candidates must also produce
Bonafide Certificate from the College currently studying.
II. Duration :
| The Course is for a duration of one academic year.
The Contact Classes shall be conducted either for 10 days or during
week-ends covering 80 hours of classes. The students who have earned
75 % of attendance in the Contact Classes, are eligible to appear
for the examinations. |

VI. Examinations and Results :
Annual - The Bharathidasan University
will conduct the Examinations.
| a. |
There shall be
examinations at the end of the academic year in the month of June
/ July. A student who does not pass the examination in any subject(s)
shall be permitted to appear in such failed subject(s) in the supplementary
examinations to be held in December. In the case of Foreign students
who belong to the academic year January - December, they may be
permitted to appear in such failed subject(s) in the supplementary
examinations to be held in June / July. |

The results will be published
by the Bharathidasan University and forwarded to the Study Centres
in which they took the examinations, through the office of Kalai
Kaviri Off-campus Degree Programme.

VII. Passing Minimum :
| A student shall be declared to have passed in each
paper if he / she secures not less than 40% (10 marks for Internal
and 30 marks for External) of the prescribed maximum marks. He / she
shall be declared to have passed the whole examination and qualified
for the Diploma if he / she passes in all the Papers. |
MODE OF PAYMENT OF FEES :
All payments must be made only through
crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of
"Registrar, Bharathidasan University”,
payable at Tiruchirappalli.
The Demand Draft should be taken from
any one of the undermentioned Nationalized Banks :

Name of the candidate, Application number, Subject and
Course applied for, must be written at the
back of the DD.
The Fee for the first year should be paid immediately
on receipt of the Admission intimation and
before the last date fixed in the intimation letter. No extension of time
for the payment of fee
will be allowed.
Course Fee meant for each year, must
be paid in the beginning of the respective academic year.
For payment of fee for the subsequent
year, no seperate intimation will be sent. The candidates
must, on their own, arrange to remit the fee by 1st July.
Fees once paid cannot be refunded or
adjusted for other purposes.
Interested candidates can obtain
the Application Form in person or by post on payment of the Application
Fee by DD in favour of ‘Registrar, Bharathidasan University’
payable at Tiruchirappalli, drawn from the State Bank of India (Branch
Code:7014)
